The Water of Life and Eternal Life

Water Is the Source of Life

Water is essential to all living creatures. No creature can live without water.

Lack of Water Leads to Death

70% of the human body is made of water.  Extreme thirst comes from losing only 2% of body water.  Death comes from losing 12% of body water.

As we absolutely need water to live, we absolutely need the water of life to live spiritually.

The Water of Life Given by God

As God gives us physical water for our healthy life, God also gives the water of life for our healthy spiritual life.  Then, Who will give us the water of life in the last days?

Only God Gives the Water of Life

In each age, it is only God Who can give the water of life. In the last days, it is the Holy Spirit and Bride that give the water of life.

Revelation 22:17 The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let the one who hears say, “Come!” Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life.

The Spirit is the Holy Spirit Who can give the water of life because the Holy Spirit is God.  The identity of the Bride that gives the water of life is shown in the previous chapter of the book of Revelation.

Who Is the Bride in Revelation?

Revelation 21:9-10 One of the seven angels who had the seven bowls full of the seven last plagues came and said to me, “Come, I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb.”

And he carried me away in the Spirit to a mountain great and high, and showed me the Holy City, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God.

The Bride in Revelation is the wife of the Lamb. She comes down out of heaven in the last days to give the water of life.  She is the Heavenly Jerusalem that comes to the earth.

Heavenly Jerusalem Is Our Mother

Galatians 4:26  But the Jerusalem that is above is free, and she is our mother.

The Jerusalem that is above is the Heavenly Jerusalem. She is our Mother and the Bride of the Holy Spirit.  Just as mothers give life on the earth, it is Jerusalem Mother that gives eternal life with the water of life.

The Water of Life Flows from Jerusalem

The Bible shows that the water of life can be given only by God.  The Bible also shows that in the last age, the water of life comes from Heavenly Jerusalem.  In the Old Testament, too, Jerusalem is the source of the water of life.

Zechariah 14:8 On that day living water will flow out from Jerusalem, half of it east to the eastern sea and half of it to the western sea, in summer and in winter.

The book of Zechariah chapter 14 foretells about the last days. This verse testifies that the living water flows from Jerusalem.  In the last days, in all seasons and to all nations, Jerusalem is the source of the living water.  But is this the physical Jerusalem city or the Heavenly Jerusalem? As Heavenly Jerusalem is the source of the water of life in the book of Revelation, the book of Zechariah also testifies that in the last days, the living water will flow from Jerusalem.

The Heavenly Jerusalem in Revelation gives the water of life in the last days. The Jerusalem in Zechariah also gives the living water in the last days. Therefore the Jerusalem in Zechariah 14 must also be testifying about the Heavenly Jerusalem, not the earthly city of Jerusalem. The book of Ezekiel also contains a prophecy about the source of the water of life in the last days.

Ezekiel 47:1-2 The man brought me back to the entrance to the temple, and I saw water coming out from under the threshold of the temple toward the east (for the temple faced east). The water was coming down from under the south side of the temple, south of the altar.

He then brought me out through the north gate and led me around the outside to the outer gate facing east, and the water was trickling from the south side.

The temple referred to here in Ezekiel is the Jerusalem Temple.

Ezekiel 47:3-5  As the man went eastward with a measuring line in his hand, he measured off a thousand cubits and then led me through water that was ankle-deep.

He measured off another thousand cubits and led me through water that was knee-deep. He measured off another thousand and led me through water that was up to the waist.

He measured off another thousand, but now it was a river that I could not cross, because the water had risen and was deep enough to swim in—a river that no one could cross.

As the good news about Heavenly Jerusalem, our Mother, spreads throughout the whole world, the river of life becomes deeper and deeper.

Heavenly Jerusalem, our Mother from heaven, pours out the water of life upon the world, and those who receive it will become refreshed.

Ezekiel 47:8-9  He said to me, “This water flows toward the eastern region and goes down into the Arabah, where it enters the Dead Sea. When it empties into the sea, the salty water there becomes fresh.

Swarms of living creatures will live wherever the river flows. There will be large numbers of fish, because this water flows there and makes the salt water fresh; so where the river flows everything will live.

Whoever receives the water of life from the Heavenly Jerusalem will live. Spiritually, to live means to have eternal life.

The Bible also shows what will happen to those who do not receive it.

Ezekiel 47:11  But the swamps and marshes will not become fresh; they will be left for salt.

Wherever the water flows, everything will live. But to those who refuse it, they will be left for salt.  This prophecy in Ezekiel is also about the last days.

Ezekiel 47:12 Fruit trees of all kinds will grow on both banks of the river. Their leaves will not wither, nor will their fruit fail. Every month they will bear fruit, because the water from the sanctuary flows to them. Their fruit will serve for food and their leaves for healing.”

Compare this prophecy of Ezekiel 47 to the same prophecy in Revelation chapter 22. Both chapters in the Bible show that the river of the water of life flows out from Jerusalem. The book of Revelation shows that is from the Heavenly Jerusalem and that it occurs in the last days.

The Water of Life in the Last Days

Revelation 22:1-2  Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb down the middle of the great street of the city. On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations.

Two different books of the Bible, one from the Old Testament and one from the New Testament, clearly show the same river. Each testifies that the trees bear fruit each month and that the leaves are for healing. It is the same prophecy.

According to Jeremiah 3:17, in the last days, the Throne of God will be called Jerusalem. Here in Revelation 22:1, the river of the water of life flows from the throne of God and of the Lamb in the last days.  As the throne of God represents Jerusalem, the Bible again shows that Jerusalem is the source of the living water.

Revelation 22:5 There will be no more night. They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them light. And they will reign for ever and ever.

This verse testifies about entering the Kingdom of Heaven. Those who receive Heavenly Jerusalem when She comes down out of heaven in the last days will live to witness the fulfillment of this prophecy.  Let us believe the Bible that testifies that we must go to Heavenly Jerusalem to receive the water of life.

To Receive Salvation We Must Go to Jerusalem Mother

The Bible shows many times that, in the last days, Jerusalem is the source of the water of life. But is it the physical Jerusalem that will give us life? No, life only comes from God. Those who receive Heavenly Jerusalem, our Mother, will receive the water of life. Therefore let us receive the water of life from Heavenly Mother so we can be blessed by God and go to the Kingdom of Heaven.
